After graduating from the Indira Gandhi Medical College and Hospitals, Shimla, Himachal Pradesh, Dr. Ajay Rana went on to specialize in the fields of Dermatology and Dermatosurgery at the Institute of Dermatology, Ministry of Public Health, Bangkok, Thailand, where he received his Diploma.

He was then selected by the University of Greifswald, Germany, to participate to the one year Diploma in Aesthetic Laser Medicine (DALM), a qualification which is necessary to have for any physician wishing to use Lasers in Aesthetic Medicine in their practice in Germany.

He then was invited to lecture in Aesthetic Medicine for the DALM German Program by the University of Greifswald, Germany. Simultaneously, Dr. Ajay Rana worked on an extensive range of lasers and Light Systems for various pathological conditions at both Plastic Surgery & Dermatology Departments of the University Klinikum of Greifswald. At present Dr. Rana is a Dermotologist Attaché, University Clinic of Greifswald, Germany.

Dr. Rana was selected and attended the prestigious “DIU de Dermatologie Esthétique, Lasers Dermatologiques, Cosmétologie” (one-year Diploma) offered in France. Dr. Rana also spent several months (2007-2008) working in France at the University Hospital of Besançon, which is also equipped with state-of-the art Laser Systems.

At present, Dr. Rana is the Head and Project Coordinator of DALM-India degree at MGMC&RI, Pondicherry, India which is the only institutionalized academic program in this demanding speciality of Aesthetic Medicine. DALM-India is the premier program of the University of Greifswald, Germany and comes under the umbrella of Scanbalt Academy, Denmark.

Besides his expertise in Lasers, he also has extensive practice in cosmetic medicine procedures such as the injection of Botolinum Toxin; fillers; skin peelings, etc.

Dr. Rana is a Member of the World Society of Anti-Aging Medicine (WOSAAM), an Associate Member of the European Society for Cosmetic and Aesthetic Dermatology (ESCAD) and a Fellow Member of the International Society for Dermatologic Surgery (ISDS).

He participated to numerous international conferences and congresses in Dermatology and Aesthetic Medicine and has constituted a broad international network of physicians interested in Laser and Aesthetic Medicine. He was recently awarded a Scholarship to join and present a paper at the 10th International Congress of Dermatology in Prague, Czech Republic, May 2009.

Last but not least, Dr. Rana is the proud holder of a Fellowship in Emergency Medicine (RCGP UK), a Diploma in Family Medicine (DFM), is a certified Primary Trauma Care Provider and Instructor, and a certified American Heart Association (AHA) Basic and Advanced Cardiac-Life Support Provider.
